Let`s go for a "Walk&Talk" together!

 

We heard that sitting is the new smoking, right?! But does it "only" affect our physical health? No, it doesn`t! A sedentary lifestyle also has HUGE effects on our mental health as lots of studies during the last couple of years could prove. The risk of developing anxiety and depression for example increases as sitting behaviour increases (e.g. Teychenne et. al. 2015; Kilpatrick et. al. 2013).

 

That`s why I decided after 10+ years of sitting with my therapy and coaching clients in the comfy chairs of my office, I should get both of us out of that comfort zone and bring our work to an even more productive and healthy level by implementing WALK & TALK-Sessions!

 

 Considering that we do not only sit for an average of 6 to 9 hours per day - we mostly also sit INSIDE for all those hours! This means: lack of movement + lack of fresh air + lack of sunshine + lack of connection to nature.

 

As a coach and therapist I do not want to support this old fashioned way of working inside whilst mainly sitting any more. We have study after study and KNOW all about a healthy lifestyle, but our physical and mental health will not get any better and our workflow any more productive if we do not LIVE this knowledge and actually CHANGE the way we work!

 

FRESH AIR affects our cognitive function - especially our ability for strategic and focussed thinking, decision making and the capacity to understand new information (Joseph et al., 2015).

 

In a study by Shaefer et. al. they showed that people did much better in memorizing things when at the same time walking on a treadmill rather than doing the same exercises sitting (Shaefer et. al. 2010). I myself made it through the exams of my Psychology degree by recording the things I had to learn and listening to it again while going for walks or runs. I am convinced that I would have taken much longer to prepare for my exams and my results would not have been so good if I would not have connected the mental learning to physical movement.

 

A study from Oppezzo and Schwartz in 2014 found out that WALKING OUTSIDE increases our creativity and on top of that: WALKING IN NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS has an even better healing and decrease of stress potential as walks in cities (Berman et. al. 2008).

 

INCREASING OUR ENERGY AND VITALITY, more happiness, higher life satisfaction, better health in general, being creative and productive, being able to keep our focus throughout the day as well as feeling centred and calm from the inside - this is what we all want isn`t it?!

 

Well, there is tons of research that the combination of physical movement and nature can give us exactly that!

THE COACHING CAN BE IN 🇬🇧 ENGLISH OR 🇩🇪 GERMAN.

 

1. Send me an Email with your request and introduce yourself shortly and the reason you are looking for support by coaching in just a few sentences.

 

2. If I think that I could be the right Coach for you, we will arrange an initial 30-50min talk via Zoom where I can give you a better idea about the "Walk&Talk-Sessions" and where we both see if we are a good fit.

If we agree to work together, we prepare the walking session(s), define the coaching goal and agree on price and setting.

 

3. After we agreed on the conditions, we meet at the sea and start our walking journey ;)
